The etiquette of any wedding invitation is pretty much set in stone, but with the less traditional weddings being held every day, you may need to know more about what type of wedding it will be. This is especially the case when it comes to the alternative wedding invitation for a same sex couple who will be getting married. Often, the alternative wedding invitation is the first clue to some of your family and friends that you are going to take this step into marriage. It may introduce the concept of a same sex commitment ceremony to some people that truly don’t know that it exists. When you are requesting the presence of your guests at a church it may say “requesting the honor of your company”, whereas if you are holding your wedding or commitment ceremony in a non-denominational location it would say “requests the pleasure of your company.” Many same sex couples are going with the less traditional style though and writing their own verses inside of the alternative wedding invitation to give a more unique flair. An alternative wedding invitation is nothing more than a wedding invitation sent out by a same sex couple. Only you will be deciding what the tone of the wedding or commitment ceremony will be, and your invitation should reflect that.
