Destination Wedding Invitations
Destination weddings used to mean that a couple would be running over to Las Vegas or the court house to get married. Nowadays though, couples are planning their wedding destination of their dreams in many unusual, beautiful, and often faraway locations. So, what does that mean when it comes to a destination wedding invitation? Well, quite a bit actually.
Whereas in traditional weddings, guests are merely going to be meeting at a church or other venue and then moving on to the reception. Unless you have family or friends from out of town, it will hardly be more than a day event. With destination weddings more time is usually required which means not only do you have to plan out the event thoroughly ahead of time, so do your guests. Often, a destination wedding includes at least a weekend full of time spent at the locale of choice, if not more.
With the time requirement for your guests you need to send out your destination wedding invitation earlier than a traditional wedding invitation. It also needs to have a bit more information then your typical invitation. Often a destination wedding is paid for by the bride and groom, or the parents, so it is advisable to know who is coming well ahead of time.
Most destination wedding invitations are sent out at least 8 to 10 weeks ahead of time. If you still feel this wouldn’t be enough time because you are traveling in season or during a popular time of the year, then you should consider a personalized letter to each of the guests telling them of your destination wedding plans. You need to let them know where you are staying, how many days it will be, the exact day of your wedding, and any other information they will need. In return they should let you know what airport they will be flying out of, and if they would like to room with any particular person while at the hotel.
You of course don’t need to write all of this on the destination wedding invitation itself, but a follow up letter or as stated before, a personalized letter ahead of time will let them know of any pertinent information.
Destination wedding invitations are some of the most beautiful invitations around. They can be personalized to suit the locale that you are choosing and with so many choices available you’ll have no problem getting all of your friends and family to attend.
